Taking the classic cocktail to the skies at Flavour Blaster

Aviation

The original and in our opinion the best, Aviation cocktail was first published in Hugo R. Ensslin’s 1916 Recipes for Mixed Drinks. The drink also made great use of Alps produced liqueur Crème de Violet. Interestingly the colour of the spirit is alleged to have given the drink its very name.

Harry Craddock, the famed bartender later printed the recipe in his 1930 publication, Savoy Cocktail Book. Harry’s recipe was a somewhat rogue take on the drink. This is due to the fact that he took out the Crème de Violette — most likely due to how difficult it was to get in Europe and America at the time.

For us here at Flavour Blaster, we think that this drink needs to be enjoyed on a warm spring or summer day, with a perfect blue sky amongst friends planning your holidays.
